S Jenkinson Electrical: network upgrade

This project comprised an upgrade to network infrastructure and upgrade to server from Microsoft Windows 2000 SBS to Windows 2003 r2 SBS.

S Jenkinson and Son have been a Care Micro customer for a number of years. We have supported their original Microsoft Windows 2000 Small Business Server network for some time. As their very successful business has grown it became clear their needs were greater than the capacity of their original server could provide.

We began a consultation process to identify the key needs of the business from their IT investment. From this process we established that S Jenkinsons required an updated Microsoft Small Business Server fileserver-based network solution with the additional back office functionality that this offers and incorporating security and data protection. We added a new Intel-based rack-mount Microsoft Small Business Server R2 Standard Edition to the site, and successfully migrated mail, users, third party applications and PCs over to the new domain.

As part of this installation we also configured the sites security and latest generation secure off-site backup solutions in order to meet the demands of the business.

As a continuing service from this project, Care Micro configure Microsoft Server Update functionality and provide full support and maintenance for both hardware and software across the new network.
