Flight Sim goes to groundFor those of us who have spent many happy hours trying to land 747s on the M1, or simply overshot the runway in a Cessna every time, there's some bad news about Flight Sim. Microsoft have stopped developing the program due to job cuts.

Developed in those heady days before the wide range of console shoot 'em ups, FS was a gentle introduction to flying and one that broke new ground - before you hit it again. The program was a fine representation of a cockpit, and it came even before mice and joysticks so everything was controlled via the keyboard. Imagine!

I even remember getting the latest copy of FS by buying it bundled with the latest copy of MS-DOS. "What's MS-DOS?" I hear everyone cry.

I was a particular fan of the later aerial combat versions, jumping into a Spit or a Hurricane and seeing off the enemy in the Battle of Britain or over the D-Day Landings.

There a full story on the BBC which you cand read here after you have shed a small tear for a great program.
