Care Micro completes a network upgrade by installing a high-speed internet line. Duraweld, located in Scarborough, is a manufacturer of customised presentation packaging and printer products. As a Care Micro Systems' customer we have successfully completed a major project to upgrade and develop Duraweld's IT systems which integrate into a new order processing system. As part of this project Duraweld has developed a new web site to allow customers to order their products on-line and which links directly to the order-processing system. However, in order for Duraweld's customers to use this efficiently, the speed of communications needed to be increased from the existing 2Mbps leased line. This was achieved by using a 10Mbps (uncontended) line from NYNET (a public/private network for North Yorkshire set up by Yorkshire Forward and North Yorkshire County Council), for around the same annual rental costs. Care Micro, one of only a small number of authorised resellers of NYNET's network, were able to complete the project for Duraweld on time and within budget. NB: NYNET line speeds can go up to 1Gbps. |
